Minimal is a minimalist sub-genre of house & techno, featuring stripped-down repetitive grooves and rhythms. Pioneered in the early 90's by artists such as Plastikman (Richie Hawtin) & Robert Hood. In recent years, the genre has taken great influence from all areas of the electronic soundscape. It has also fragmented into a great number of difficult to categorize subgenres, equally claimed by the minimal movement. Central labels include, M-nus & Kompakt with world renowned clubs like DC-10 helping to take the movement to the next level.
